Liberatore's
Liberatore's started back in 1988 down in Eldersburg, with brothers, cousins, and dear family friends later opening their other locations. Each location reflects the original owner's unique personality and style, while remaining true to their dedication to authentic Italian cuisine. In addition, they offer Maryland and local favorites as well, crab cakes included! Read on to see how they represent!
Crab cakes are available as a sandwich or double entree. The sandwich comes with fries, and the entree is served with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The server was nice enough to make us a single entree upon request, but don't expect that request to always be upheld.
The crab cake is made up of mostly big lumps of crab, which has a very nice and sweet flavor. There is visible bread in the binder, but just enough to hold those large lumps together. Some of the crab tastes meaty, but for the most part, it tastes sweet. The binder has a nice, buttery flavor to it that works well with crab (or any other seafood, for that matter!).
We were quite impressed with the crab cake from an Italian restaurant! While there wasn't much spice, and the bread in the binder was more pronounced than it should, the crab had great flavor, which is what we're all looking for in our crab cakes. Everything frames the crab flavor nicely. We'd just like to see some more spice in the mix to diversify the flavor profile, but otherwise, it's quite good!
