Ze Mean Bean Café

Ze Mean Bean Café started out as just a coffee house back in 1995, serving light fare and traditional Eastern European cuisine, alongside desserts, coffee, and tea. Since then, they have expanded into a full-service wine and dining destination. In the land of pierogies, galumpkies, and kielbasa, you wouldn't expect to find a crab cake. But this is Bawlmer, hon! Crab cakes are everywhere, and it's always fun finding them in unexpected places. Read on to find out how the Eastern European take on our beloved crab cake was!

Tamberino's

Tamberino's has been family-owned and serving Harford County for over two decades. While they are a pizza shop at first glance, there are two things they pride themselves on: Italian favorites and crab cakes. Given the crowd that is usually at the restaurant, we can clearly see that they are popular. Located next to The Lodge, Tamberino's does look like a classic Italian sub shop. But what you don't expect is the very generous serving sizes! We do know that pizza joints can kick out some serious crab cakes. Was Tamberino's one of them? Let's find out!

Mo's Seafood

Mo's Seafood is no stranger to the CCR. In fact, Mo's Crab and Pasta Factory was one of our very first reviews. Just in case you're not familiar, Mo's Seafood has been serving quality seafood in the Baltimore area for more than 25 years. There are 5 locations around the area, with a 6th coming to White Marsh. Della Rose's Avenue Tavern

Della Rose's has been Baltimore's tavern since 1944, when they first opened in East Baltimore. A lot has changed in that amount of time. Around 1961, they moved the restaurant to the Overlea section of Belair Rd, expanding their already well known menu to include sour beef and dumplings along with some seafood specialities. Then in 1998, that location then moved to where it is now, located in The Avenue in White Marsh. A second location was opened in Canton, just 2 miles from their original location, but that has since closed. No matter, as their tradition lives on in White Marsh. With this much local history, we were excited to try their crab cakes. Follow along and see what we thought!
