Chick and Ruth's Delly

You can't get any more 'local landmark' than Chick and Ruth's Delly.  Politicians, dignitaries, celebrities, locals, and tourists agree that your local Ma and Pa sandwich shop is certainly still worth visiting.  Where else can you order a sandwich named after a local politician, recite the Pledge of Allegiance each morning, and take on one of the the Colossal Challenges?  And now they have crab cakes available at the shop as well as mail order.  Are they really Crab Cake Central, as the sign outside indicates?  Read along and find out!

Handy Crab Cakes

Shopping in a grocery store that you've never been to before is always an adventure.  New store layout, new brands that you might not have seen before, and yet another store card to sign up for in order to take advantage of the sale prices.  When touring foreign grocery aisles, I can't help but look and see if there is a new crab cake offering (both fresh or frozen) that may that one secret find that will satiate my crab cake hankerings without having to go to a restaurant (which gets expensive after a while).  One such trip introduced me to Handy crab cakes.  According to their website, they are America's oldest seafood processor, who still maintains a plant in Crisfield, MD.  Being a local seafood company, they should know a thing or two about crab cakes then.  Do they?  Let's find out!

Stanford Grill

The Stanford Grill is a relatively new location in Columbia, having opened up about a year or two ago.  As they say, food is their passion, and they pride themselves on fresh, handpicked ingredients, prepared in an open-air kitchen.  Unless you've heard about it, you may not even know where this place is, seeing as how it is tucked away behind the trees.  But once you find it, you'll be greeted with great ambiance and a culinary adventure.  So how did the crab cakes turn out?  Read along and see for yourself!

Hellas

Hellas is a local Greek restaurant, located off of Veteran's Highway in Millersville.  But what you may not know is that Hellas is part of that well-connected ring of Greek restaurants that serve some of Baltimore's famous crab cakes, that you may think they all come from the same place.  (We're talking G&M, Timbuktu, and Romano's.)  But, while each may have a similar crab cake, they are all individual establishments, serving their own version of our beloved delicacy, as noted in a MD Gazette article from 2007.  So do Hellas crab cakes live up to the legend?  Let's find out!

Lewnes' Steakhouse

Lewnes' Steakhouse is an upscale steakhouse in the Eastport neighborhood of Annapolis, serving only the finest U.S. Prime aged beef, amongst other tasty treats.  While there have been many renovations and ownership changes throughout the years, the location as a business dates back to the early 1900's.

To walk past this establishment, you may never think twice about what lies inside.  From the outside, you can really only see the bar area.  But step inside and ask for a table, and you'll be whisked away to a cozy booth with white tablecloths.  And that is where your experience begins.  But they're not just all about steaks.  They also offer crab cakes.  Should you choose between one or the other?  Let's see if we can't help you decide!

Pizza Boli's Old Bay Crab Pizza

We'll bet you didn't know that Pizza Boli's started over 25 years ago up in the Baltimore neighborhood of Mount Washington.  Nowadays, they have over 70 stores in the MD, VA, PA and DC area, being voted best pizza by the Washingtonian Magazine, and touting that they offer more product variety than any other major pizza chain.  They are also innovators in recyclable container technology with their SmartBox pizza boxes.  Along with that, one of their newest pizza offerings is the Old Bay Crab Pizza.  Being a Baltimore company, one is going to probably assume that they know a thing or two about crabs.  (Isn't that usually the case?)  So how did their newest pizza offering turn out?  Let's find out!
