When Marylanders go "downy ocean, hon", one popular destination to go is Seacrets. If you are not familiar with Seacrets, then you may want to pay them a visit at least once in your life, if for the atmosphere alone. Seacrets has something for everyone, from a restaurant to a tiki bar to floating tables in the bay, and yes, even live music and a night club. Billed as Jamaica USA, Seacrets is that little island paradise in the middle of Coastal Highway, complete with sand everywhere and palm trees. Spend any amount of time there, and you'll eventually get hungry. Dare you leave and go elsewhere, possibly with a wait (especially true if you are visiting in-season)? Or do you stay put and let the good times roll? Allow us to make your decision easier with our review of their crab cakes. Worth the stay, or should you ship out? Read on and find out what we thought!
Sean Bolan's is the Irish pub of choice in Bel Air. Located on South Main Street, they pride themselves on classic Irish culinary traditions, a warm atmosphere that shows their roots in Co. Tipperary, Ireland, and pouring the perfect pint. In addition to the Irish fare are some regional classics. One such case are their crab cakes. Were they good enough to make us kiss the blarney stone, or do they get the shillelagh stick treatment? Let's find out!
SeaPack is a familiar frozen seafood company that you've most likely come across in the grocery store, and probably grew up on. They are most notably known for their shrimp products, ranging from popcorn shrimp to jumbo butterfly shrimp. So many shrimp products that they'll keep 'ole Bubba Gump happy for at least a month. We've always known that they have a Maryland crab cake, but haven't been able to find them in the stores yet. So imagine our surprise when we find the mini crab cakes in one of our local Giant stores! We took one for the team to get this week's review, so read on and see how our experience was!
Seasons Pizza is a regional pizza chain with over 25 stores in MD, PA, DE, and NJ, in addition to stadium locations in Philadelphia and Baltimore. Known for their consistency and dedication to a quality product, the News Journal in DE rated Season's as the best pizza for 4 years in a row. All of your pizzaria standards are on the menu, in addition to, what else, crab cakes! The menu says they are award winning, but we can never be too sure until we've tried them. Read along and find out what we thought!
There's nothing like heading 'downy ocean' in the off-season. The crowds are gone, prices are lowered, and the wait times at restaurants diminished. Just head to the boardwalk, stroll around, and sample some of the fine beach cuisine that the town has to offer. One such place is Shenanigan's. Located on 4th St and the Boards, they have an amazing outside deck from which you can enjoy a beer while gazing at the ocean (as well as people watch!). So while an Irish establishment isn't quite what you would think when it comes to crab cakes, we are always on the hunt for them. So are they worth the wait, or do we call shenanigans? Read along and find out!
