Remember Freddies in Bel Air? Sure, we all do. Well, they closed down in April 2013 and sat vacant for quite a while. Then, earlier this year, we saw the Steelefish Grille was going to open in it's place. Members of the Steele family used to be part owners of the old Freddies (as well as the Hickory Lodge down the street). Now they are reopening a new seafood restaurant in its place. Freddie's used to have a really good crab cake, so we had to see if the Steelefish Grille could also deliver. Read on to see what we thought!

According to local legend (or the About page of their website), Stoney Creek Inn actually started out as Bill's Seafood Carry-out and Crabs, way back in 1998.  It wasn't until 2001 that Bill and his family opened a full service restaurant at the Inn's present location. Aside from making a point to provide quality food, they also serve Maryland crabs during the crab season. Their food is so good that Guy Fieri visited the joint in 2008 to tape Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. Will their crab cakes also take us to Flavortown? Let's find out!

The Sunny Day Cafe is a family-owned restaurant located in the heart of downtown Bel Air on Main St. Priding themselves on excellent service and fresh ingredients, the line out the door on any given day should speak for itself. They're only open for breakfast and lunch, though. So if you turn up after 3pm, you'll be mighty disappointed. We were lucky enough to grab a table outside on one of these last summer afternoons to sit down and try their specialty -- crab cakes! Read on to see what we thought!

If there was ever a location to open a restaurant, Fork, MD would be it. We're not sure what happened to Knife and Spoon, MD, but one thing we do know is that Fork is home to the Sunshine Grille. Sunshine Grille is a Greek and American restaurant featuring fresh, local ingredients, alongside a selection of craft beers and wines, all reasonably priced to keep you coming back. So while they're not part of the regular menu (which is quite extensive), we did happen upon crab cakes on the specials menu one night. Did they live up to the reputation of the Sunshine Grille? From the outside, the Swallow At The Hollow appears to be a dingy dive bar, and for the most part, it actually is. But that's what gives such establishments its charm, right? (This IS Charm City, after all!) The Swallow has been around since the 1940's, and until recently, not really a place that you'd see yourself getting a high quality culinary meal, thanks to the exposure given to it by Guy Fieri on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. Intrigued by the Ghost Pepper Honey wings, we also noticed their claims to have one of the best crab cakes in Baltimore. Which you know we just had to check out!
