Weekly reviews of crab cakes around the MD and DC area

Anne Arundel County

Gambrills is currently undergoing some big changes as of late.  First there came The Village at Waugh Chapel Shopping Center.  Now there is the Waugh Chapel Town Center being developed (which brings Wegman's to this neck of the woods!  Yyeeesssss!).  Not really much else around here, so you might as well get your shopping done, and then knock off for the rest of the day with some dinner and drinks.  Which brings us to the Four Seasons Grill -- an eclectic fusion of Mediterranean and American cuisine.  They've been around since 2006, and always seem to be packed.  So are they worth visiting for crab cakes?  Let's find out!

G&M Restaurant

Ah, the infamous G&M.  You can't start any crab cake discussion without any mention of them, most often being pitted against Faidley's.  G&M has been around since 1972, churning out their crab cakes to high praises and accolades ever since.  The CCR has personally been eating G&M for years.  So in the great crab cake war, how does G&M stand out amongst the others?  Click on through to find out!

Garry's Grill

Taking fresh, available ingredients and making them into an unexpected, unique dish. Sounds fancy, huh? What if we told you that it's from what has been described as an 'upscale diner' that also has a full bar and offers baked goods and desserts? Enter Garry's Grill. Since 1991, Garry's Grill has been delighting locals with their seasonal menu, as well as taking their cuisine on the road with their catering business. Garry may have retired and headed south, but the restaurant lives on. Were their crab cakes as worthy as their other menu offerings? Read on to find out!

Hellas

Hellas is a local Greek restaurant, located off of Veteran's Highway in Millersville.  But what you may not know is that Hellas is part of that well-connected ring of Greek restaurants that serve some of Baltimore's famous crab cakes, that you may think they all come from the same place.  (We're talking G&M, Timbuktu, and Romano's.)  But, while each may have a similar crab cake, they are all individual establishments, serving their own version of our beloved delicacy, as noted in a MD Gazette article from 2007.  So do Hellas crab cakes live up to the legend?  Let's find out!

Lewnes' Steakhouse is an upscale steakhouse in the Eastport neighborhood of Annapolis, serving only the finest U.S. Prime aged beef, amongst other tasty treats.  While there have been many renovations and ownership changes throughout the years, the location as a business dates back to the early 1900's.

To walk past this establishment, you may never think twice about what lies inside.  From the outside, you can really only see the bar area.  But step inside and ask for a table, and you'll be whisked away to a cozy booth with white tablecloths.  And that is where your experience begins.  But they're not just all about steaks.  They also offer crab cakes.  Should you choose between one or the other?  Let's see if we can't help you decide!
