Weekly reviews of crab cakes around the MD and DC area

Bobby Chez's Famous Crabcakes

If you're a fan of QVC, then you've probably already know about Bobby Chez.  Back in 1997, Bobby (real name Robert Sliwowski) took his late father's crab cake recipe, and along with his mother, created the lightly breaded 4oz crab cake that made them famous.  Years later, they're the #1 selling crab cake on QVC, alongside a thriving mail order and wholesale business, and have multiple restaurant locations featuring a wide range of culinary delights.  A quick internet search proves that people love them.  So what did we think?  Read on and find out!

Bonefish Grill

The Bonefish Grill is a national chain that delivers upscale food in a casual setting. Despite the fancy decor and servers in white chefs coats, you'll see people dressed in all sorts of attire, from fancy date night clothes down to shorts and flip flops. Bull on the Beach

When you hear the name Bull on the Beach, you instantly think of summertime and, of course, being 'downy ocean, hon!'  If you aren't from around these parts, the Bull on the Beach is a family owned and operated restaurant that first opened up in Ocean City, MD back in 1980. Read on to see if their crab cakes are worth the trip, or just a lot of bull!

Bushmill Tavern

Sometimes we come across a place that takes you by surprise. The Bushmill Tavern in Abingdon, MD does just that. The location is a bit off of the beaten path, and the outside decor is fairly basic. But reading the food specials on the board as you walk in the front door indicates that there might be more than meets the eye. The Bushmill Tavern opened back in early 2014 and features cuisine that isn't typical of your local neighborhood bar. Despite the winter menu still being in effect when we went, crab cakes were available, so follow along and see how they were!

Capitol Lounge

If your visit to the nation's capitol has you wanting to meet Capitol Hill staffers, then heading over to the Capitol Lounge is going to be high on your list.  The Lounge is a popular venue for both staffers and locals alike.  Adorned in political memorabilia, there is normal dining/bar seating upstairs, outside seating when the weather cooperates, and shuffleboard and pool downstairs (with another bar!).  Some consider it a dive, others call it a sports bar.  You may just call it your new home for happy hour.  The CCR was out celebrating DC Beer Week and happened upon the Capitol Lounge, who had a special running all week long honoring beers from cities that helped to kick off the whole East Coast microbrew movement (Baltimore, Philly and NY).  Pairing beers from those cities with special sliders, it was only appropriate that they pair the Baltimore beers with, what else, crab cakes!  How were they?  Read on to find out!
