Baldwin's Seafood has been serving Harford County since 1976. In that time, they have been recognized as having the Best Seafood and Comfort Food in the Greater Baltimore area by Microsoft Networks' Local City Guide with City Search in 2001 and 2006, and named one of the Top 23 Crab Houses by Baltimore Magazine in 2010. Open year round, Baldwin's is sure to have something for everyone, although they're best known for their crabs. And where there are crabs, there will be crab cakes. Were they worth the trip? Della Rose's has been Baltimore's tavern since 1944, when they first opened in East Baltimore. A lot has changed in that amount of time. Around 1961, they moved the restaurant to the Overlea section of Belair Rd, expanding their already well known menu to include sour beef and dumplings along with some seafood specialities. Then in 1998, that location then moved to where it is now, located in The Avenue in White Marsh. A second location was opened in Canton, just 2 miles from their original location, but that has since closed. No matter, as their tradition lives on in White Marsh. With this much local history, we were excited to try their crab cakes. Follow along and see what we thought!

One of Baltimore Magazine's Top 25 Crab Cakes of 2013! The Thames St. Oyster House opened in historic Fells Point back in July of 2011, converting an old 2-story storehouse into the appropriately themed restaurant that it is today. While the main draw may be on oysters, they do serve authentic and traditional Mid-Atlantic and New England style seafood. The big draw for us, however, is their Cast Iron Crab Cake, which uses nothing but East Coast Blue crab. Given that this place is almost impossible to visit during "normal" hours without reservations, we managed to finally get a table (yes, with a reservation!). Was it worth the wait? Conrad's started out back in 2003 as a seafood market on Joppa Rd. Since then, they have opened a seasonal location in Phoenix, a stand at Ripkin Stadium in Aberdeen, and their newest location, which is a full fledged bar and restaurant in Perry Hall (taking over the old Surf City location). Conrad's prides themselves on participating in the True Blue program, which is a voluntary labeling effort that lets you know the source of your crabs. Using local Maryland crabmeat is definitely the first ingredient in a quality crab cake, but you still have to bind and season it. Does Conrad's tread the crab properly? Follow along and find out!

Kooper's Tavern first opened their Fells Point location in memory of their yellow lab, Kooper. Connected with Woody's Rum Bar and Sláinte (which the CCR has visited), Kooper's builds their reputation on great food, excellent service, and, of course, plentiful beverages. You may have also seen their Chowhound running around Baltimore. It's their food truck that allows them to bring their famous burgers to different locations around the city. Which, by the way, Kooper's burgers were voted Baltimore's Best Burger in 2011 by Baltimore Magazine, and are listed by Zagat 2014 as some of the "Must-try burgers across the country." So with all of this special attention to beef, we wonder if they can apply the same passion to our favorite crabby crustacean. Read on to see how everything went!

Bel Air's Open Door Cafe is the quintessential Main Street business. Only, they're not on Main Street. Opened in 2006, the Open Door Cafe strives to be a good standing community member, and also serve you the best food possible made from scratch. Voted Best Breakfast 2013 by the Harford County Dining Guide, and Zagat rated, the ODC strives to provide affordable fine dining while helping to build the community. Given the fact that they are always busy, we just had to try their crab cakes. Read on to see how they were!

The Double T is a 50's style diner with 8 locations around the Baltimore area, half of which are open 24 hours a day. Back in 1959, partners Tony and Thomas opened the first Double T, which was then sold to the current owners in 1997. At the diner, you'll find more than just breakfast -- they serve everything from breakfast, salads, sandwiches, crab cakes, pastas, and Greek specialties. Wait, what? Diner crab cakes? That's what we said, but that is also what intrigued us to stop by and check them out. Read along to find out how they were!

Slices Pizzeria, located in Bel Air Plaza Shopping Center, is devoted to customer service and excellence. Using only the finest ingredients, Slices makes each item fresh and made to order. Pizzerias aren't typical for offering crab cakes, but this is Maryland, so anything is possible! We've had the pizza from Slices before, and it was pretty decent. When you first hear where Blue Hill Tavern is located, you don't quite know what to expect. On the edge of Canton, more commonly known as Brewers Hill, lies the old Natty Boh brewery (which has since been turned into business and office space). So to know the area means that you may not have a favorable picture in your mind. Then you turn up at the Blue Hill Tavern and are just blown away. Stark in contrast, this 2-level establishment shows that upscale knows no neighborhood. It's someplace that you'll just have to experience for yourself. As for ourselves, we know that where there's Boh, there are crab cakes. And the Blue Hill Tavern delivers. Read on to see if they were worth the trip!

With a name like The Harp, you instantly know that they are an Irish bar. Not just any Irish bar, but one of 2013 Baltimore's Best Restaurants according to Urbanspoon, and was named one of Baltimore's 25 Best Bars by Baltimore Magazine, as well as one of Restaurant.com's top rated restaurants in 2012. Now, Irish bars will generally serve your Irish menu regulars, such as Bangers & Mash, Fish & Chips, and a fresh pint of Guinness. While all of your favorites are there, but there are some items that aren't so Irish. Like, for instance, crab cakes! Read on and see if they lived up to The Harp's reputation!
