Sean Bolan's

Sean Bolan's is the Irish pub of choice in Bel Air. Located on South Main Street, they pride themselves on classic Irish culinary traditions, a warm atmosphere that shows their roots in Co. Tipperary, Ireland, and pouring the perfect pint. In addition to the Irish fare are some regional classics. One such case are their crab cakes. Were they good enough to make us kiss the blarney stone, or do they get the shillelagh stick treatment? Let's find out!

Chef Driven DC

Once nice days, nothing beats going outside for lunch. And working close to Farragut Square, the food trucks are always near, rain or shine. So on this particular springish day in February, the CCR found themselves checking out the scene, and came across a truck that was featuring jumbo lump crab cakes. "Champagne taste on a Sarsaparilla budget" That truck would be Chef Driven DC. Now, crab cakes aren't always on the menu, but this week they were, and we venture to think they'll be on the menu again. So are they worth the wait, or should you try something else? The Seafood Stop

Ah, yes. The seafood carryout. One of the many staples of the Baltimore landscape. Game day coming up? Need crabs for that big summertime feast? Don't want to cook? They've got you covered. And if you're up around the Fallston area, you've probably frequented The Seafood Stop. Bonefish Grill

The Bonefish Grill is a national chain that delivers upscale food in a casual setting. Despite the fancy decor and servers in white chefs coats, you'll see people dressed in all sorts of attire, from fancy date night clothes down to shorts and flip flops. No matter what you wear, the quality of the food and the freshness of ingredients will still stay the same. And while the focus is mainly on fish, there are some dishes that originated on land as well. So what better dish to review than surf and turf? We couldn't think of anything better, either. So read along and find out how everything turned out!

The Mallet

The Mallet is a fairly large crab house and sports bar, located on the corner of Rt 1 and Mountain Rd in Fallston. Many other restaurants have been at this location, but the Mallet has been going strong since it took over the spot in 2011. There is something for everyone, ranging from enjoying a meal in their fancy dining room, to the inside Tiki Bar with 2 bars and live music, to cracking crabs and sippin' Bohs on the outside patio.  Whether you're brining the family or going out with your friends, The Mallet seems to offer something for everyone. And as any Maryland crab house, crab cakes are on the menu. How were they? Let's find out!

DuClaw Brewing Company

If you're a fan of beer, and an even bigger fan of real beer, then you probably already know about DuClaw. If you don't (or you're not from the area), DuClaw is a local chain of brew pubs, priding themselves in real beers since 1996. Most people know DuClaw for their beer, but they also have food! The menu ranges between brewpub classics to culinary delights. And one of those culinary delights happens to be their Caribbean Crab Cakes. Did a Jamaican band come out of nowhere and sing us a song about eating crabs and cheering for beer, or should we send the dish down to the Bermuda Triangle? Only one way to find out. Read on!
