Basta Pasta is an Italian and seafood restaurant that started in 2004, and has grown to two locations (Fallston and Timonium). Their goal is simple - become the ultimate expression of what an Italian casual dining experience should be. They also strive to serve fresh and flavorful food using the finest available ingredients in the area. Did they meet those claims with their crab cakes? Let's find out!
The Bayard House in Chesapeake City, MD has a long standing history. Considered to be the oldest building in town, the original building, which was a manor, was built in the 1780's. It wasn't until 1829 that the location was first used as a public building, being converted to a tavern and an inn (then called Chick's Tavern). Since then, the building has changed owners, at one point in time being sold to a descendent of the original owner. Not until the early 80's did Allaire du Pont purchase the property and restore it, along with much of the village, and can still be seen today. But we didn't turn out for a history lesson. We came for crab cakes! Read on and let us let you know how they were!
When you hear the name Bellissimo, you instantly think of Italian cuisine, not upscale Mediterranean. Bellissimo opened in 2009 with a vision of delivering delicious healthy eating alternatives, featuring fresh ingredients and a warm casual environment. Greek and Italian-inspired murals adorn the walls, and the bar area resembles the hull of a ship. One thing is for sure -- they are in Maryland, and like any respectable local establishment, they have crab cakes on the menu! So we paddled in and decided to see how they stack up. Read along and find out how our visit went!
If you live in the Crofton area, then you already know the Big Fish Grille. Perhaps you have passed by it on the way to a Baysox game, or in your travels up and down Route 3. The Big Fish Grille is the place along the road that looks like an old Bubba Gump shrimp shack, complete with a big, goofy fish sign. While owned by the same group that runs Buddy's, Red Sky, and Yellowtail, this is a local establishment. And with half off appetizers and bottles of wine during their happy hour, you may want to look past the kitsch and stop on in. But before you do, I'm sure you want to know about the crab cakes. Never fear, we are here to let you know! So read on and see how they turned out!
If you've been anywhere around the area, you've more than likely come across a Bill Bateman's. They may be a corporate outlet, an express location, or a franchise. What started out as a single location on Harford Road back in 1987 has exploded into multiple locations around the area. Mostly known for their wings, they do have a wide variety of items on their menu. The big banner advertising Crab Cake Night caught our eye, and we just had to stop in. Should you go with the cakes, or stick with the wings? Let's find out!
