Bloom Crab Cake

Bloom Crab Cake Bloom Crab Cake Crab Cake Review

Bloom is a chain of supermarkets run by Food Lion (or as some of us call it -- Food Kitty).  The idea was for a concept supermarket that analyzed changing trends and needs to create an unconventional layout to maximize customer convenience.  For example, you can buy milk at the front of the store, instead of having to go all the way to the back for it.

This week, the CCR reviews their store-made crab cakes.  How were they?  Read on and find out!

The crab cakes are found in the seafood case, and packaged according to how many you want.  Label does not contain ingredients, nutritional or cooking information.  For this review, we sauteed in olive oil for 3 minutes on one side, and then 2 minutes on the other.

The cake is a Maryland style crab cake, which uses more breadcrumbs than normal.  Despite the breadcrumbs, you can actually tell there is crab in there.  The crab content is all shreds, with a fair amound of sweet flavor to it and not dried out at all.  The spicing is almost even with the crab flavor, but dialed back a bit, and accentuates nicely.

While this cake does not look like much, and the price point would have you wondering just how good it could be, the end result is quite surprising.  It is certainly not top-of-the-line in the world of crab cakes, but for those of us on a budget who want a fresh crab cake, the crab cakes at Bloom are worth the trip.

Have you tried Bloom's crab cakes?  Tell us about it in the comments!
