Luna Del Sea

For over 10 years, Luna Del Sea has been entertaining tourists and locals alike with fresh seafood and sizzling steaks. And the location is prime: right on Pratt St near Camden Yards, M&T Bank Stadium, the Convention Center, a good number of the major hotels in the downtown area, and so forth. If you're like us, you've noticed the place many times, but haven't been able to stop in, either because of traffic, time constraints, or the line out the door on a busy night (they do have a pretty nice outdoor seating area). But despite how fancy the establishment appears, the dress code is casual, so feel free to wear your Oriole's orange or Ravens camo. We happened to stop by after a phenomenal Orioles win one night, and checked out one of the specialties of the house -- crab cakes! Check out the review to see what we thought!

Alexander's Tavern

Alexander's Tavern is a neighborhood bar located in the historic Fells Point section of Baltimore. You may get confused by which door to go into (one goes into the restaurant, the other goes into the bar area), but that shouldn't stop you from coming in. You may not know by looking at the place, but they've won numerous awards, from a "Best of" from FourSquare in the Food category, to 3rd Best Pub by Baltimore Magazine Readers in 2012. If the happy hour specials won't pull you in, then the astounding selection of tots will. But knowing us, we're all about the crab cakes with a side of tots. So we checked out Alexander's one day to check out how they were. Read along to see how our visit went!

MaGerks

You may already be familiar with MaGerks from their Federal Hill location. Back in 2000, a couple of brothers from Philadelphia decided to open their second location down in Baltimore to serve displaced Eagles fans, and quickly grew to encompass 3 bar areas and an outdoor patio. In addition, they brought you real Philly-style cheesesteaks, authentic down to the Amoroso roll. They did so well that they decided to open another location up in Bel Air. And while the Federal Hill location may have expanded their menu to include sushi, the Bel Air location's menu expanded to include crab cakes! So how did a couple of cheesesteakheads do with their version of the Maryland classic? Read on and see for yourself!

Sláinte

If it's the one thing you can always count on an Irish bar for, and that's for having footie on the teles at any given opportunity, in addition to a never ending supply of Guinness on draft. But what you might not expect is the cloth napkins or high end restaurant quality food. That's where Sláinte comes in. Part of a group of interconnected restaurants (Kooper's Tavern and Woody's Rum Bar) at the corner of Thames and Broadway in the heart of Fells Point, you've most likely walked past and only ever thought about the beer, but didn't notice that they were voted Best of Baltimore multiple times by the City Paper and Baltimore Magazine. Until you stop in for a pint and get hooked on their Celtic Wings or the Scotch Egg. But never mind the fish and chips, we're here for the crab cakes. Take a culinary journey with us to see how this gastropub handles our beloved crab!

Known for their consistency and dedication to a quality product, the News Journal in DE rated Season's as the best pizza for 4 years in a row. All of your pizzaria standards are on the menu, in addition to, what else, crab cakes! The menu says they are award winning, but we can never be too sure until we've tried them. Woody's Crab House

If you've ever spent any time driving on I-95 in NE MD, you may have noticed a large crab on one of those restaurant exit signs. That sign would be for Woody's Crab House, located in, you guessed it, North East, MD. Woody's Crab House serves up Chesapeake cuisine in a casual environment, specializing in steamed crabs and crab cakes. And after a tour of their website, it would seem that they also organize vacation tours (if only there was a real Old Bay Beach...). So while crabs weren't fully in season when we were at Woody's, they still had plenty of crab cakes available. Are they good enough to stake their reputation on? Read along and see what we thought!
